We’re so happy people are still finding these old-timey and traditional folk songs  (plus a couple of original songs) we recorded in 2006. It was a blast recording them and we are so grateful to the musicians who contributed their talents. It’s especially gratifying to see how much our beloved ”senior citizens” like hearing songs such as You Are My Sunshine and Red River Valley. It was only after we recorded these that we realized how very dear to their hearts these tunes are. They bring back a flood of pleasant memories.
About a year ago, one of our dear friends went to see her father, who was in advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease. She took Joan with her to the care facility. Joan sat at the piano and played You Are My Sunshine, Red Wing, Red River Valley, Tennessee Waltz and others. Our friend cried as her father smiled and clapped his hands! He passed away only two weeks later, but our good friend was grateful to have experienced her Dad’s seemingly miraculous presence that day. It’s a reminder of the power of music, and its importance to the human spirit.
By the way, if you check out the link above, the arch top guitar on the cover of the cd belonged to Joan’s father, Art. Enjoy!!
